I just wanted to share this yummy recipe.
We are not vegetarian but I was for 15 years and so I cook a lot of vegetarian meals. This recipe could be used for a Spaghetti and “meat Balls” type thing. They are basically exactly like you would make a meat ball but using Tofu and tempeh instead. You can really play around with the recipe to suit your tastes.
We ate them with sweet chilly sauce and buckwheat salad.
1 block tempeh
1 block tofu
1 brown onion finely chopped
1 clove garlic finely chopped
1 -2 eggs
flour (I use spelt) or breadcrumbs
Salt and pepper
coriander (optional) Or what ever herbs you like really
Chilly chopped finely (optional)
Oil for frying….I used rice bran oil
Blitz the tofu and tempeh in your food processor transfer to a mixing bowl
Lightly saute onion and garlic then throw in with the tempeh mix
Add eggs, salt and pepper and chopped coriander
Mix up and check for consistency
Add a bit of flour/breadcrumbs to make the mix a bit firmer so you can scoop into ballish shapes.
Heat up your oil for deep frying and when the oil is ready drop spoonfuls into the oil and cook until golden. Drain on paper towel.
